Surgery and Private Health Insurance
Surgery is performed at Northpark Private Hospital Bundoora, Epworth Hospital Richmond and St Vincent’s Private Hospital East Melbourne.
All patients are required to pay a booking fee 14 days prior to surgery to enable the extensive administrative organisation of surgery.
If you have eligible Private Health Insurance your surgical costs will usually be covered with only an affordable out of pocket expense.
There are many different levels of cover, and it is extremely important that you contact your Health Insurance Provider for more details, both for surgical and hospital costs. You will be provided with a comprehensive Perioperative quotation pack to guide you through this process. Our friendly staff are always happy to help at any time as we understand this can be a complicated and stressful time for patients.
Our anaesthetists are of outstanding quality and have paediatric training with a wonderful ability to put all members of the family at ease. Details will be provided for you to contact them prior to surgery. We highly recommend this in order to discuss the procedure, your safety and their fee structure.
For those who are uninsured, your fees for surgery will be clearly outlined prior to you giving consent enabling you to make an informed decision about your surgery. Our hospitals try at all times to make this as accessible for you as possible and may be able to provide payment plans.
Patients may be able to go onto a Public waiting list for urgent procedures, however wait times frequently exceed 12 months.
Non-urgent public procedures often require referral through the outpatient system incurring a longer wait. This referral should be provided by your general practitioner.
